NY ex-mayor Giuliani hospitalised in critical condition
Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani is in a critical condition in hospital, with his spokesman asking people to pray for the 81-year-old.
Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani has been hospitalised âand is in âcritical but stable conditionâ, his spokesperson says.
Spokesman Ted Goodman provided not further more details about 81-year-old Giulianiâs condition or how long he has been hospitalised.
âMayor Giuliani is a fighter who has faced every challenge in his âlife with âunwavering â strength, and heâs fighting with that âsame strength now,â he said on Sunday (US time).
âWe do ask that you join us in prayer for Americaâs Mayor Rudy Giuliani.â
Giuliani hosted his online show, Americaâs Mayor Live, from Florida on Friday night.

âMy voice is a little under the weather, so I wonât be able to speak as loudly as I usually do, but Iâll get closer to the microphone,â he said as he opened the show with a cough and a raspy voice.
Giuliani was elected New Yorkâs mayor in 1993 after serving as one of the USâs highest-profile prosecutors, taking on mobsters and crooked Wall Street traders.
He garnered acclaim â for his âresponse to âthe September 11, 2001, al-Qaeda attacks on âNew York âCity, earning the nickname âAmericaâs Mayorâ.
He was also a lawyer for US President Donald Trump in his failed efforts to overturn the results of âthe â2020 election, an âeffort that led to criminal âcharges against Giuliani in two American states and a defamation lawsuit from election workers.

Giuliani denied wrongdoing in the criminal cases. But he was disbarred from practising law in Washington, DC, and New York.
Two former election workers won a $US148 million ($A205 million) defamation judgment against him. Guiliani ultimately struck a deal that let him keep his homes and various belongings in exchange for unspecified compensation and a promise to stop speaking ill of the ex-election workers.
Trump pardoned him in 2025.
Trump posted his support to Giuliani on Sunday.

Giuliani ran for the US Senate in 2000 but abandoned his race against Hillary Clinton after being diagnosed with prostate cancer.
He was âpreviously hospitalised in 2025 after suffering a fractured vertebra and other injuries following a âcar crash.
