Located on Flinders Street and overlooking Ross Creek, Flinders Street Wharves (FSW) will span 2600sqm of waterside dining and events venues.

FSW has released digitally rendered images of the proposed precinct, which will include The Docks – North Queensland’s only pontoon restaurant and bar.

FSW co-owner and General Manager Grant Morgan said construction of the $30 million site began in late 2024.

“From the Public and Rooftop Bars, to live music, to a premium experience at The Docks, it really is going to raise the bar for quality dining and events in North Queensland,” Morgan said.

The Docks will offer an elevated dining experience alongside FSW, with a Mediterranean-inspired menu showcasing local seafood. The restaurant will also feature two marina berths of 10m and 13m to support tourism of Magnetic Island and surrounds.

Featuring indoor and outdoor bar and dining venues, a rooftop bar, coffee shop and live music capacity, the new precinct is set open in time for summer.

Located in the former Burns, Philp & Company building will be a public bar which will honour the site’s history.

Flinders Street Wharves and The Docks will employ 120 people to work across both venues, which can host up to 1000 patrons.

Grant Morgan said that Townsville residents could expect FSW’s opening in spring.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming Townsville locals and tourists visiting Flinders Street Wharves and The Docks later this year, and we are already taking function and event enquiries for those wanting to book their summer events with us,” Morgan said.
