Police arrived at a Kentville Street home in Mitchelton before 9am on Thursday to find two people unresponsive.

A 61-year-old man from Keperra and a 35-year-old woman from Mitchelton were declared dead at the scene.

A Greenslopes man, who was at the scene and allegedly known to the pair, was taken into police custody.

Police allege the 41-year-old did not contact emergency services.

The man has been charged with two counts of murder (reckless indifference), two counts of supplying dangerous drugs and two counts of possessing dangerous drugs.

He is set to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday.
